Ladii Girl: The Queen of R&B from the 508
Worcester, Massachusetts isn’t the first place most listeners associate with soulful, old-school-meets-modern R&B. Ladii Girl is working to change that.
Born in Boston and raised in Worcester, the singer and songwriter comes from a musical family, and music has been part of her life since childhood. She was writing and performing long before she had a stage to call her own, and that early grounding shows in a voice and songwriting style built on genuine feeling rather than trend-chasing.
She has now earned the title “Queen of R&B from the 508”, a nod to her central Massachusetts area code and the city that shaped her. It’s a bold claim, but her track record backs it up. Her live résumé includes the Fleet DJs Music Conference, Summer Jam and Hot 97.9, as well as stages in Dallas, Charlotte, Raleigh and Florida. Along the way she has shared bills with R&B names including Lil Mo, J. Holiday and Keke Wyatt, a lineup that speaks to the kind of vocal tradition she belongs to.
Her output matches her stage work. Ladii Girl has released multiple projects and picked up media and radio recognition, building a following that stretches well beyond New England. She now releases through Buddhabeatsent Music/Island Def Jam, and she is still widening her sound and audience.
For UK listeners who grew up on powerhouse R&B vocals and stripped-back, emotive songwriting, she’s an artist worth getting to know. Her catalogue is on Spotify and Apple Music, and her videos are on YouTube.
