Susan Muranty Lights Up 2026 With New Album Darkness Illuminates Our Light
Sydney-based singer-songwriter Susan Muranty is closing out a prolific run with her most ambitious release yet: the 2026 album Darkness Illuminates Our Light. The record follows her 2025 single “Wild For The Country” and arrives alongside the standalone track “Night Undresses The Day,” both signaling a moodier, more atmospheric turn for the Church Point artist known for her alternative country-rock sound.
Muranty, an award-winning lyricist with honors from the Hollywood Music in Media Awards, the UK Songwriting Contest, and the Australian Songwriters Association, has built her career on emotionally direct storytelling. Her earlier hits, including the chart-topping “Some Loving Left To Do” and “Stop Time With A Kiss,” established her as a fixture on iTunes’ singer-songwriter charts. With this new material, she leans further into introspection, pairing spare, textured production with the vivid imagery — stars, sky, fire, and shadow — that has become her signature.
“Night Undresses The Day” continues that thread, its title alone hinting at the day-to-night duality running through the new album. Coming off 2023’s Fire Dove and singles like “Ruby Ruby,” Muranty appears to be deepening rather than reinventing her sound, trading some of her earlier songs’ folk-pop brightness for something darker and more contemplative.

Muranty co-writes and produces much of her catalog with longtime collaborators, including Golden Guitar winner Matt Fell, and her songs continue to reach community and internet radio audiences across Australia and internationally. Darkness Illuminates Our Light and “Night Undresses The Day” are both available now on Spotify and Apple Music.
