The collaborative album Apotheosis by Zerofuturism and Alv-03 has been submitted to The Recording Academy for consideration for the 69th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

The release is currently part of the official GRAMMY Awards consideration process. If it passes eligibility screening and receives sufficient support from Recording Academy voting members, it could become a nominee in categories including Album of the Year and Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album.

The project was written between March and April 2026 and was inspired by the indie video game Lucid Blocks, a surreal and psychedelic sandbox survival game centered around liminal environments.

The idea for the project dates back to 2025. Before the game’s release, Illarion “Zerofuturism” Khutsishvili attempted to contact the creator of Lucid Blocks to discuss creating a musical project inspired by the game. The message was never seen. Following the game’s release, Zerofuturism and fellow musician Kirill “Alv-03” Grechkin decided to independently create their own fan interpretation of its world and atmosphere.

The project was originally planned as a six-track EP under the working title Lucid on Bandcamp. During production, it evolved into a full-length album containing fifteen tracks while preserving its original artistic direction.

The album is rooted in ambient music while embracing an unconventional sonic identity. Its sound balances nostalgic, retro-inspired textures with melancholic atmospheres, creating a profound sense of solitude, longing, and, above all, liminality. Each composition is designed to evoke quiet reflection through vast empty spaces, dreamlike environments, and subtle emotional tension, forming an immersive listening experience that blurs the line between reality and memory.

The title of the album, its track names, and its cover artwork all contain direct references to the world, imagery, and gameplay mechanics of Lucid Blocks. In the game, Apotheosis is a crafting structure or mechanic that functions in a way reminiscent of the crafting table in Minecraft. By adopting this name, the album establishes a direct connection to the game’s universe while also giving the word a broader symbolic meaning associated with transformation, transcendence, and reaching a higher state of existence.

Other track titles and visual elements from the album artwork similarly draw upon locations, objects, concepts, and environments found throughout Lucid Blocks. Rather than simply recreating the game, the album reinterprets these elements through music, transforming its surreal environments into an independent emotional and atmospheric experience.

The album explores themes of liminality, isolation, the afterlife, altered states of consciousness, and surreal architectural spaces. Interest in liminal environments has grown significantly in recent years, particularly following the release of Kane Parsons’ Backrooms in 2026.

The creator of Lucid Blocks later acknowledged the project publicly by commenting from the game’s official account under one of Zerofuturism’s videos: “listening to this while working on lucid blocks updates”

In July 2026, Zerofuturism announced on social media that Apotheosis had been officially submitted to The Recording Academy for consideration for the 69th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

Illarion “Zerofuturism” Khutsishvili is an ambient artist and composer who has been creating music in the Ambient and Drone Ambient genres since 2020. His work is characterized by atmospheric soundscapes, liminal aesthetics, and emotionally driven compositions that explore themes of solitude, memory, and vast architectural spaces.

Among his most notable releases are the albums Time Becomes Meaningless, Fall Ambient Collection, and Soundgarden I. Across these projects, Zerofuturism has developed a recognizable style that combines minimalist composition, immersive ambience, and cinematic storytelling through sound.

In recent years, Zerofuturism has increasingly collaborated with his friend and fellow musician Kirill “Alv-03” Grechkin. Together, they have begun developing atmospheric projects that combine Zerofuturism’s conceptual vision with Alv-03’s approach to music production, including their collaborative album Apotheosis.
