Wayne Banks follows his debut single “World We Share” with “Cold River”, a beautifully intimate acoustic rock ballad that shifts the focus from the wider world to the experience of standing beside one person through a difficult time. Built around warmth, vulnerability and emotional restraint, the Nottingham singer-songwriter delivers a song that understands that sometimes support is not about solving someone’s problems, but simply refusing to leave them facing those problems alone.

The song began with an acoustic guitar piece written by longtime collaborator James Cole, and Banks describes the vocal melody and opening lyrics arriving almost immediately after hearing it. That sense of spontaneity is reflected in the finished track.
