High Fashion Club Share New Single “Tom & Jerry”
There’s an unmistakable sense of mischief running through High Fashion Club. The Örebro-based skatepunk five-piece have never seemed particularly interested in taking themselves too seriously, instead channelling their collective energy into something they call “nerd-punk”, a collision of skatepunk roots, pop-inspired vocals and unabashed fun. Their latest single, “Tom & Jerry,” brings a suitably unexpected weapon: the cowbell.
The band’s international makeup only adds to the sense of character. Comprised of three guys, one girl and one other, with backgrounds spanning Sweden, Australia and Spain, High Fashion Club have forged a sound that is as energetic as it is melodic. “Tom & Jerry” leans heavily into that identity, layering grooving bass and percussion beneath a chorus designed to hit with maximum impact.
“Tom & Jerry is all about FUN,” says bassist Robin. “It’s got layers upon layers of groovy bass and percussion that all piles together to build the raw power of the chorus.” For singer Marcel, that sense of enjoyment is central to the band’s wider appeal: “We have so much fun writing and playing our stuff, but honestly Tom & Jerry radiates that the most.” It’s a philosophy that gives the track its immediacy, allowing the musicianship to remain tight without sacrificing the spontaneity that makes punk so compelling.
The response so far suggests High Fashion Club have found a formula worth pursuing. Marielle Tengström of Tritone praises their “superfluously charming and high-octane skatepunk with great vocals,” while Rockklassiker’s Janne Innanfors captures the communal appeal, describing music that makes you want to be “a misfit in their crowd and just jump, jump, jump.” Jona Tee of H.E.A.T. & New Horizon has also highlighted the band’s “strong, memorable name” and “equally strong song titles,” while noting that the timing feels right for a revival.
Following their Rockflödet Unsigned Artist of the Year win in 2025 for “Misfits in the Crowd,” High Fashion Club are now building toward a packed run of summer appearances. A slot at the prestigious Skogsröjet festival in late July will be followed by a hometown appearance at Live at Heart, Sweden’s largest showcase week. With “Tom & Jerry”, the band are making a convincing case that skatepunk’s future might be every bit as playful as its past.
