New York Fashion Week has no shortage of runways, but few come with a view like this one. On Friday 11 September, Planet Fashion TV took the show seven floors up to 610 Loft & Garden, the penthouse atop 610 Fifth Avenue at Rockefeller Center, where Spanish fashion house Custo Barcelona unveiled its new Spring/Summer 2027 collection against the backdrop of Rockefeller Plaza.

It was the latest chapter for a platform that has spent years putting designers from around the world in front of new audiences, and for a label that has been part of New York Fashion Week for nearly three decades.

The Woman Behind Planet Fashion TV

At the centre of the afternoon was Celia Evans, founder, CEO, host and executive producer of Planet Fashion TV. Her mission is simple: to produce, present and amplify exceptional fashion designers wherever they are in the world.

That mission has taken her a long way. Planet Fashion TV has produced around 500 shows across the globe, with runways and features in Paris, Milan, Monaco, Miami and, of course, New York, showcasing some of the biggest names in design.

Evans brings a career that spans music, television, film, advertising and international media. She has produced and directed content for global brands including Lamborghini, Kenworth Trucks and Leading Hotels of the World, as well as for television networks across the US, Europe, Asia and Latin America, working in English, Spanish and Japanese. She is also a former member of the Miami-Dade County Film and Entertainment Advisory Board.

Planet Fashion TV itself is a half-hour syndicated series, filmed in HD and 4K and produced by Miami-based Sea Star Films. Described as a “travel meets style” show, it covers far more than the catwalk: art, architecture, luxury products, cars, eco-innovation, interior design, music and cultural trends in cities worldwide. Evans envisions it as a vibrant portal celebrating global trends, beauty, diversity and creativity through an inclusive, lighthearted lens.

Custo Barcelona: Four Decades of Colour and Print

If any label suits a rooftop reveal, it is Custo Barcelona. Founded in Barcelona in 1980 by brothers Custo and David Dalmau, the brand built its name on bold colour, striking prints and an unconventional approach to design that sets it apart from quieter European houses.

Its New York Fashion Week debut came in 1997, and throughout the 2000s Custo Barcelona became a familiar sight in American film and television. The brand has dressed stars including Julia Roberts, Penélope Cruz and Natalie Portman, among many others, and today its designs are sold in more than 50 countries.

At noon on 11 September, Custo Dalmau presented the Spring/Summer 2027 collection with panoramic views of Rockefeller Plaza framing every look, a setting that matched the label’s larger-than-life personality.

Cocktails in the Garden

After the Custo Barcelona presentation, guests moved out to the rooftop garden overlooking the plaza for a cocktail hour, taking in the Manhattan skyline between shows.

A Second Runway: Negris LeBrum

The afternoon continued at 3pm with Negris LeBrum, the label founded by Creative Director Travis Hamilton. Born at Texas Southern University, the HBCU in Houston, the brand draws on Black history, Southern culture and Hamilton’s own vision of contemporary elegance. It has built a presence at New York Fashion Week and was named a CFDA Ones to Watch honoree.

The label takes its name from a Creole woman from Hamilton’s hometown of Natchitoches, Louisiana, who in the 1940s embraced her Black heritage and fell in love with a Black man despite the racial barriers of the era. That story of identity, resilience and love still shapes the collections, presented under the brand’s motto, Le Noir est Joli.

Pairing the two labels gave the afternoon a clear sense of range: the exuberant Mediterranean energy of Custo Barcelona on one side, the history-rich Southern elegance of Negris LeBrum on the other, with New York holding it all together. For one afternoon, the view became part of the runway.

For Celia Evans and Planet Fashion TV, it was another reminder of what the platform does best: finding great design, giving it a stage worth remembering, and sharing it with audiences around the world.
